What Information Does Dockitty Collect About Me?
Dockitty collects a small amount of anonymous usage information to help improve the app. This includes data like how often Dockitty is opened, which features are used, how long it runs, and what version of macOS you're using. This data is collected through PostHog, a privacy-conscious product analytics platform.
We use this information to better understand how people use Dockitty, fix bugs, and decide what to build next. We do not collect your name, email address, or anything personally identifying. We also do not track your activity across apps or websites.
If Dockitty crashes and you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in your Mac's system settings, Apple may send anonymized crash reports and diagnostics to us via their developer tools. This information does not identify you, and we only use it to debug and improve the app.
What About Files I Interact With?
If you drag a file onto Dockitty (to make the cat react), we don't see or store the file. We only read the file extension (e.g., .png, .txt) to trigger an animation. No contents are accessed or saved—everything happens locally on your Mac.
Does Dockitty Track Me?
Nope. Dockitty doesn't track who you are or what you're doing on your Mac. It doesn't collect your location, personal files, or internet activity. The analytics we do collect through PostHog are anonymous and aggregate only. We also do not use advertising SDKs, fingerprinting, or anything creepy.
Does Dockitty Sell My Information?
Absolutely not. Since Dockitty doesn't collect personal information, there's nothing to sell. We don't share data with advertisers or other third parties. The only third-party service involved is PostHog, and they process the anonymized analytics data on our behalf, under a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that complies with GDPR and other data laws.
What Does Apple Share With You?
Apple provides basic sales metrics to developers—like the number of downloads and purchases. This information contains no personal identifiers, and we can't see who you are or what you did in the app. We like it that way.
What If I Contact You?
If you email us directly at hello@dockitty.app, we'll have whatever information you choose to share in your message (like your name or email). We'll only use this to respond to you and help with your request. We don't store this data anywhere beyond our inbox, and we definitely don't sell or share it.
Can I Opt Out of Analytics?
If you'd prefer to block analytics entirely, you can use a network-level blocker or firewall to block requests to our analytics server. You'll still be able to use Dockitty just fine, though it might be harder for us to understand how the app is performing or what to improve.
Does Dockitty Do Anything Uncool?
Nope. No weird data collection, no advertising, no shady tracking. Dockitty exists to make your Dock a little more fun—nothing more.
